Role and responsibilities

When you’re accountable for everything from the bottom line to transforming the business, there’s a lot on your to-do list
Scott’s main day to day focus is on:
· Supporting his fellow board directors in achieving their business and personal goals
· Managing the company’s investors through Ultima’s transformation
· Working with Ultima’s chairman on M&As
· Ensuring there’s clarity and unity on Ultima’s purpose, focus and direction
· Building and strengthening relationships with customers

For Scott, the last seven years have been a personal as well as a professional journey, as he’s led Ultima through its transformation into a modern cloud services business
Scott joined Ultima back in 2015, after many years working for leading IT vendors and managing their partner relationships. He was excited by the opportunity to define the ‘partner of the future,’ and by the prospect of transforming a successful but low-profile reseller into a modern services business that would be relevant to customers in the age of cloud and SaaS.
"
Today, we manage our customers’ environments for them, and that’s dramatically different from simply selling them a piece of tech. There’s no comparison to the level of responsibility involved in owning, running and managing a customer’s IT infrastructure."

Stepping up
As a people person, Scott’s longstanding relationship with Ultima’s founder and chairman, and his belief in the calibre of people at Ultima, created the right chemistry to realise his vision for the business.
But Scott recognised the scale of the challenge, and the seismic shifts required to transform Ultima into a service-focused business, which would demand a whole new set of people and skills.

Driving change
Seven years on, Ultima is well advanced in its transformation journey, and successfully supports customers with services focused on the digital workplace, cloud and security.
