The way forward
Looking ahead, Tamsin’s vision for Ultima focuses on two groups of people: employees and customers.
"
For our customers, my goal is for them to come to Ultima because we’re safe and secure, but also because we’re innovative. I want us to be their first choice. We’ve worked hard to get to that point with many of our customers. My goal is for us to be the go-to choice across our customer base.
Then for employees, my aim is that people will consistently choose to stay with the business, because they feel part of something exciting that’s bigger than themselves, and where a person can progress their career and continue their personal and professional growth.”
The long-term view
As Ultima turns 30, and looks very different to when it started out, Tamsin is determined that the business continues to evolve and develop in step with a changing world. Ultima’s ability to blend stability and continuity while driving its own transformation is something Tamsin’s especially proud of.
"
Ultima is a business of massive tenure. People have been with us for 25 years. Some of our most senior and amazing people joined us as apprentices and have had a phenomenal career journey with us.
I’d like to see the people who’ve come on board recently to be here in 25 years, if that’s their choice. We want to continue to give people those opportunities, and offer them a place to thrive.”
"
In the time I’ve been at Ultima, we’ve gone from being people who don’t bring themselves to work to people who bring themselves to work. That’s really special. You’ve got to have joy at work. The key pillar of performance is loving what you do.”
